What good is any apology if it is not heartfelt and sincere? Wrongs made to view of the public should be publically acknowledged and sincerely repented of; wrongs done to individuals should be acknowledged and repented of to that individual. Also, in this age of 'just say it so it SOUNDS convincing' seems to be enough (and which anyone with half a brain knows certainly isn't!), I think people with lots of money should have to recompense as far as possible damage done to individuals - hurting the hip pocket, sadly, seems to be the only thing that truly hurts these days.

Maybe the Joe Wilson apology was the worst because he was apologizing for something different than what some wanted him to apologize for. He should not have been so rude to the President at the time, but since the President was lying (and I do mean an intentional known untruth), he should have waited his turn after the speech.

Hi Mike: You're right on point. Am just adding a soon to be apology to the folks of the US. Whomever is responsible for letting the info fall through the cracks regarding the attempted terrorist attack on NorthWest Airlines. So far there's been a lot of finger pointing, CIA vs. DNS. Someone's head will be on platter, early 2010, but as this started in 2009, an honorable mention has been earned.

I really like this list and I agree with your best and worst. But one thing I would add to the "what did we learn from all this" section is that if you really aren't sorry don't go on camera. I would rather have someone not apologize to me then have them give a forced apology. I would also appreciate a celebrity finally saying, "You know, I don't feel I have to apologize to the public. This was between me and so-and-so and we are working it out ourselves." The Alec Baldwin apology from 2007 comes to mind. I really wish he would have done that.
